Residents will begin moving into their new rooms at Edgarley Assisted Living in Casterton within weeks, with the aged care facility now excited to fill several job vacancies.
Chief executive officer Susan Wray said Edgarley needed personal care workers, environmental services and catering staff. She said casual and part time jobs were available now.
“Job creation was always going to be a massive community outcome of our redevelopment project and it’s wonderful that these opportunities are now coming to fruition,” she said.
“Anyone interesting in joining our team is invited to personally email their application to me via email@example.com. Filling these vacancies is a key priority for us at the moment.”
Mrs Wray said as many as 85 jobs would come online by the time the entire project was finished, so anyone interested in gaining employment at Edgarley was encouraged to get their application on file for current, or future, opportunities.
“It’s an exciting time and we’re anticipating handover of the new building this month, with a view of moving the first residents early in the new year,” she said.
“We are also planning to have our staff Christmas party in the new building in two weeks, which will be a wonderful celebration of everything that has been achieved here.
“Our residents are also assisting with parts of the projects – like the landscaping. Along with their families, they have the opportunity to donate a rose that will be planted with a plaque to mark their place in our history.”
The $16 million redevelopment was made possible by $14.5 million in funding from the Federal Government and support from local member Dan Tehan.
It will replace Edgarley’s ageing 43-bed facility with a brand new, state of the art, three storey aged care home boasting 60 single, ensuited, 22 square-metre bedrooms. Below this a community centre has been included for functions and corporate use.
Mrs Wray said the building now nearing completion was just half the project, with an almost identical building to join its western wall after phase one was completed.
She said once some residents were relocated to the new building in January, demolition of some of the existing buildings would clear the site for the next half of the project.
